The start of the New Years is a time to reflect the last year’s accomplishments. In those accomplishments, what did you do in the training to improve and what needs to improve? I found my running and bike mileage were about equal for the total mileage for the year and I ran faster and stronger in previous years. My swimming improved because the total mileage increased 3 times from the previous year. Also, my workouts worked on quality as well as quantity. Most of last year I was injury free, because of the training and with strength and stretching. Use that in your training plan for this year.
Now you ask why is so important to track all of this:
- It is easier to reflect on the past year when it is black and white and see actual numbers.
- Tracks the actual mileage for each pair of running shoes to prevent injury.
- Keeps you honest with your training.
I use the BrittLog Excel Spreadsheets which can be found on the www.runtri.com.
Good luck to your successful 2013 races
